Default Gas Gauge Problem

Ok so this morning on my way home there is this neighborhood under construction with roads paved and no houses, so its fun to go screw around in the gt! lol. i pulled in this coltisac and did a little half donut to turn around. had about 3/4 tank of gas. about 10sec later a loud beep saying "19 miles to E" .....ok umm no. figured the gas was splashing around and jolted the fuel sending unit around in there.. got home shut the car off and started it back up and it climbed to a litle under 1/2 tank..... i hope i didnt screw anything up!!! on my way to work im going to fill it up and see if that fixes the sending unit somehow... i really hope this isnt a problem. has anyone heard or experienced this? thx in advance

Reminds me of when I would fuel my '06 with the car in ACC mode. The gauge would get all wonky and show that it was only half full when the tank was refueled with 15 gallons of gas. It wouldn't clear up until i drove it 60 miles. I say give it more time. It will probably fix itself after a few miles.
