Yep, some (most) here can't seem to separate esthetics from ergonomics.

Instead of holding onto the gear shifter when I'm driving, I tend to concentrate my grip on the wheel !

Looks nice though, no doubts there. I also think it might fit in better with the cabin if it were Black

Despite my earlier comments on how "wrong" a Mopar shifter is in a Mustang, I will tell you there are companies who make carbon fiber inserts to replace the wood grain shifter inserts. I've also seen stainless steel and black as well. Other materials might make it fit in more with the interior on your 'Stang...

I had a 70 RoadRunner 440 with a pistol grip shifter. Best feeling shifter ever made.

And that is without doubt the best reason for doing it up. Whatever makes the car work better for you. There is no "one size fits all" in ergonomics.

Whether I'd make one exactly like it for myself doesn't matter; it's your willingness to cross marque boundaries that is to be respected from the traditional "hot rodder's" point of view. Neither Ford, nor Chevy, nor Chrysler, nor any other make you care to name holds a monopoly on having all the "best" details from everybody's point of view.
