Default removing carpet to put in sound deadening mat?

So, I am putting in sound deadening mat this weekend and removed the trim panels, center console, seats, etc....
Anyway, I get to what I had expected was where I had to be to remove the carpet to get to the floor, and it looks like a section of carpet connects the passenger to drivers side underneath the center stack (stereo, HVAC, etc.), so, is there an easy way to remove that, or should I just cut the carpet there and throw a little glue or double stick tape there when putting it back? The section I would cut would be behind the trim panel, so i can't really see any down side there, just would rather not do it if it is easy enough to remove the center stack.

Yeah, don't cut the carpet. you will only be missing out o about a 12" section by not doing that. Unless you really want to remove the dash to get to it.

This is what you will see if you do...

Yeah, I used those online manuals to get everything removed so far, they are great.
And I did some a few hours of searching here last night and everyone has said just cut the 2 - 2" connecting strips of carpet under the center stack. I certainly don't want to get into all the electronics of the dash, especially since I didn't even expect the carpet to be under there. Any way, thanks, time to git'r done.
