Default 2012 Boss 302 priced at approximately $40,000

According to the Mustang Dream giveaway, the approximate value of the Boss 302 they are raffling off is $40,000:

For those of you interested in buying a 2012 Boss 302, would you buy the car at $40,000? What about with a $5,000 markup? $10,000 markup?

Try a 25-30K mark up... local dealership says they will be doing an auction to the highest bidder. Also talked to the sales manager and he mentioned it not going out the door for less than 80K.

Also that is a raffle, they will most likely get way more than 40K for it.

You think they will go for that much? I love the Boss 302, but there's no I would pay double the MSRP. I just can't see that happening in this economy. I think $20k at most, but I could be way off.

I can see dealers trying to charge that much, but I think they'll just sit on showroom floors.

The local dealer here already has deposits on 2 Laguna Seca and 1 street edition. According to the salesman they are not marking the cars up..but they also are not discounting anything either. no X-plan, no A-plan and no rebates

If people will stand in line to pay $80k for a friggin Mazda Miata in 1990 (yes they did) then I don't see any problem the dealers will have unloading these at that or more. Heck, the original super-snakes were selling for $140k here in vegas. The new GT350 will probably sell for $120k

I guess I'm an idiot. I'd pay about $5K over sticker but no more. For what it's worth I have a friend that owns an original 1969 Mach 1 with a 428 Cobra Jet and it's worth multiples of what it originally cost. And I thought he was an idiot when he paid $18K for it back in 1989. While I don't expect the same thing with the 2012 Boss 302 I suspect it will hold it's value as well as or better than any Mustang made in the past two decades.

BTW I started a thread on the Boss 302 pricing here.
