Predator download problem
Well this evening I got my C & L/ predator kit and underdrive pulley's in..Woohooo..went ahead and put the cai on and decided to do the pulleys this weekend. First off the predator is just your standard, not the c & l version, so I remembered reading in a post somewhere and double checked it on the install sheet about downloading the correct tune..But in order to correctly download the tune, ya gotta download the downloader program..Big problem here..After downloading the downloader program it wouldnt install.."The drive or unc share you selected does not exist or is not accessable. Please select another". <--That is the error message I kept recieving. The only thing that I can figure is sometime ago my hard drive crashed and I replaced it. Somehow my new path wasnt C: anymore but F: ..I think this may be the problem..anyone else encountered this type of problem and if so what measures did ya take to correct it ? Oh yeah, i've covered the basics that i'm aware of ..the predator is hooked up to the pc correctly, power supply and cable as supplied and I have my calid handy as so I know which tune to dl .. any advice on this matter is more than welcome..thanks
Not sure how to fix your problem, but I can confirm that the downloader installs to the root of C: by default, and I'm not sure if you can change that. Do you have any other devices using C: like an external drive? Is there any other computer you can use?

Try reinstalling it and paying attention to the directory where it goes, or make sure you pick the correct one to install to

On a different note I tried a quick fix by downloading the downloader on my laptop. Then purchased a serial to usb cable thinking that I could update the predator through this ..didnt work ...so its back to the drawing board and hopefully a solution from Diablosport.[sm=headbang.gif]
Not having a C drive is very possible. The drive allocation map was not reset prior to replacing the drive therefore it naturally assumed that the C drive designation was still taken.
You didn't answer on the OS question. I am going to assume ( hope ) that you are using at least Win2k or XP. Go to control panel, adninistrative tools, computer management, disk management. Once there, you will see your drive map. Right click on your "F" drive and choose "Change drive letter and paths". Then click on change. You have to have administrative privledges to do this, and depending on how long ago you replaced your drive and how much stuff you have installed, you will very likely have a whole bunch of crap that you will mess up. That is kind of something you need to correct at the time the drive is being replaced, not down the road after you start installing software.

Thanks for the advice Hawgman..Unfortunatly I have already tried the solution of changing the drive letter ..windows wouldnt let me ..Oh yeah ..i'm on windows xp
Well, this is not going to be the best of solutions, but if your drive is not full, you can always try ( in disk management ) to create another partition and name it "C". Unfortunately the Diablo program might not be the only program you have that issue with.
Poke around on some of the XP forums or news groups and you should be able to find a solution to changing the drive back to "C".
