blown or cams
I see why your confused here cause I had the same problem. I would absolutely love to have a supercharger, but for me I dont have the money to just drop $5k+ on a supercharger when I can do cams and headers for about $1500-$1700. Plus they sound bad *** with cams, but dont get me wrong if I had the money sitting around I would get a s/c ina heart beat
Blower all the way!
I have a D1SC Procharger on mine and love the power and the swiveling heads when people hear the whine. I don't run 140 either but it's still nice to have the acceleration and fun factor that a blower brings...

If you have no plans on forging your engine buy a Roush M90 supercharger. Roush is closing them out and you can get one cheap right now on Ebay for 3490.00! These blowers used to retail at 5200 bucks! It's a steal. However, the cheaper "cool" factor mods are exhaust and cams. Of course first you'll want a cold air intake and performance tune as well.
Be choosey about the axle backs you install if you do get some CAMs. I have heard some real nice ones, and real funny sounding ones. Some sound like fully built dragsters, while some sound like tractors, or popcorn poppers rofl
IMO, you don't sound like you want 600hp, so the M90 might be enough for you. Enough bite in the lower gears, and pull up top that'll make it worth while. Plus, it'll blow anyway most bolt ons you can think of in terms of power potential. Cams are what?.. 25 whp tops? The little roots will pack on a whoopping 100 more whp than the stock lol.

well I go back to the harley motor, sounds great but not that fast. I guess at 53 yrs old I won't be racing around on the street. I go to alot of car shows and see everything. back in the day "1976" I had a 1966 olds 442 with a stock 455c.i. had 400 hp. no cams or blower just raw torque. that was fun. sounded awesome. great to hear everyones opinion, young guys and "older" guys.
I was this >< close to buying a blower over the weekend. I didn't because I can't justify the price just yet. I already get enough tickets as it is and the only way for me to truly appreciate the blower is to drag race often or drive too fast on public roads. Drag racing with a blower requires racing tires if you want to truly utilize that extra power so for me the cost of the blower is more than just the blower itself. I like the initial price of the M90, but its so limited compared to all the other blowers. I know the stock block is limited, but you're still leaving a good amount of power on the table with a stock M90. Once you add the 500HP tune, you're close to a Paxton or Vortech which have A LOT more potential if you ever decide to get a built block.
So I decided to go with Cams, LT, and H pipe and whatever rear end combo works best (m80s, axles backs, etc). I plan on installing it all myself so its just $1600 for the parts.
With these mods, I will appreciate them whenever I am in the car no matter the speed; especially idling through parking lots and sitting at lights.
I'm still open to getting an SC on top of these mods if things go right in the future, but even then I'm fantasizing about getting a CTS-V.

i know it must have been awefully painful and gut wrenching, but you
made the right decision based on what you really need out of the car
at this time.
cruising slow through the neighborhood, is also quite fun.
You can't go wrong with either or. My 1990 has both a blower & cams (my 08 only has a blower). Great to have the best of both, like most have said it's a personal choice. In my opinion, if you can afford it, get the blower!
I do disagree that no-one can tell you have a blower, my 90 with the Vortec whistles pretty loudly (even with the cams going) & my 08 whines nicely. One more thing, if you do a lot of car shows, you can't see cams....yet a blower makes a huge impression.
Again a blower is more money, but back when deciding the same thing as you on my 08, I had a $20 savings per HP from a blower set up (Cost of cams vs. power gained, compared to cost vs. blower power). I was comparing LT's, cams, & install vs. a blower with set-up. Since I got an M90 at a ridiculously low price, that savings is even more now!
If I consfused you above, I basically measured how much each HP would cost with both power adders vs. the overall HP gain. Good luck!!!!!
