Default Headers!!

Just ordered my pypes longtube & x pipe combo!!! I plan on installing these myself in my garage, but want to make sure I have the right idea. I am going to jack it up on 4 jack stands, lift the motor an inch or two, and I should have no problem right? Also I purchased the 02 extensions but those are just plug and play correct?

Let me tell you this.
Installing headers is a BITCH.

I'd fork the money over to have a shop do it man.
SERIOUSLY. Takes a long time.
You will have to have your tune adjusted too just so you know.

One f-up is all it takes and your new mod turns into
a frown on your face.
I'd take it to a shop like I said unless you are a mechanic.
If you don't have the cash... save up.

=/ I really wanted to try it myself. I think I am going to attempt, but if I see its to hard I will just stop before I get to far and let a shop do it. My father builds mustangs so I can always ask him, but it ruins the fact of the DIY. And yeah I already sent the new tune info into bama so I should receive it about the same time the headers come.

Have you installed a set of them?..From what I got you had a shop do all your work so how can you 1st hand say they are a pain to put in..other then what others have said..what is a pain for one person might just be time consuming for another and not be that hard for them to accomplish..

No way would I pay a shop to install the headers unless you're a quadraplegic brain damaged RA-tard. It may be time consuming, but definitely a DIY project for even the least mechanically inclined. Nuts and bolts. I did mine and would do it again. And best of all, NO SCRATCHES on headers or my car because I did my own work. All nuts and bolts secured without Jerry-rigging like some shops will do and not tell you.

Patience is your friend on this one. My first set took me almost 8 hours on a hoist, had to pull the pass side of the engine off of the engine mount. It's not something I'd want to do on my back with the car on jack stands, but you gotta use what you can I guess.

Read through the installation instructions fully before starting.

To bad Ford couldn't have taken a page out of GM's book for exhaust clearance. Only took about 3 hrs to do a set of long tubes on a GTO using jack stands
