Default TPMS Sensors - Band or Valve type for my 2009

I know my car has the band style right now. 3 of them have been broken by the Tire store putting my tires on. At $55 for the strap alone, these band style sensors are freaking expensive.

I am buying a new set of rims and was wondering if I can use the new (read better) valve stem style. Anybody know if the sensors interchange and work with the 2005-2009 TPMS? The valve stem style are significantly cheaper

TIA

i have read in other threads that the new style sensors will not work with 09 down becasue they arent comaptible with the electronics in teh older car. Also, when i actualy ahd to buy these damn 10 sensors, i wished i had the 09 down syste. last i looked AM had a full 09 down sensor kit for all four tires for like $150. without the sensors

they also have just bands in twos for $40

i Tried them in my 07 Roush and they didnt work... so i ended up selling them and buying the bands again ... now that i have those wheels on my 5.0 i need those sensors back lol since these dont read the band ones... so im getting a error on the cluster saying something about the sensor not being read...

I put 2010 takeoffs (valve type) on the 07 with no problems at all.
I consulted with Blue Oval before purchasing the wheels / tires. I was concerned with the chatter on the board that they weren't compatible. No problems...

that's interesting since the tpms was supposed to be different. i wonder are your factory wheels in the area where you park? There was dude on a note rboard that just didnt bother with tpms on new wheels and though he didnt have a dash light, it turned out that he had the old wheels in the garage next to where he parked and just didn't drive enough for the light to com on each day, on a long trip it came on. Not saying yours is like that, but several other folks haven't been able to use the new sensors on their cars. just wondering what is different about yours that made it work, i bet a few guys would like to know.

Verry True & Verry Interesting... My friend ended up puting all 4 bands on his Spare Tire on his garrage in his attic which was close enough from the car to always reset the sensor lol.

that is a good idea. I don't have a spare tire. I could just buy a small cheap tire/rim and throw my 4 stockers in there and slap it into the trunk.

then I can run whatever wheels I want and not to screw with getting new bands/sensors.

do the sensors require motion to activate them or anything gay like that? or are they always reporting the tire psi?

Too bad there wasn't an option to disable this feature so you didn't need sensors at all.
