Shaker 1000 w/aftermarket head unit?
How does the Shaker 1000 sound with a new head unit?
I don't plan on upgrading the stock speakers unless I really have to.
To me, they sound great- just under powered. I may get some tweeters up front and back, but thats it.
Does a new head unit "bring the system to life"??

It will bring it back to life and it will sound better... Specially with the shaker 1000... Add the new head unit and add a tweeter on each corner inside of the car and it will sound 100% better then the stock shaker unit & you wont have to upgrade speakers.

.. I thought the reviews for the stock speaker system would be positive. They sound pretty decent for stock, but they seem under powered. Especially when you turn the volume more than halfway and the bass no longer gets louder lulz

Karnage541, Yes you can get aftermarket navi on the Shaker1000. I had it on my Roush & everything worked perfectly and my headunit was compatible with the shaker amps which powered the subs... everything sounded more crisp and louder had louder bass.

I've got a kenwood DNX6160 GPS touchscreen head unit and I absolutely love it. Kixsters is exactly right, it brings the entire system to life, much better sounding than stock.
Here's a link to the unit I had installed.

I love this unit, very easy interface and boots up quick too.

I've run 2 different H/U with my Shaker 1,000 speakers.
Kenwood DDX616
JVC AVX820
The Kenwood is okay sounding, but manageable. the JVC way overpowers the speakers. I had to go into the settings and turn down the bass/treble so the bass didn't hurt my head.
maybe they aren't overpowering things...but they certainly are way more radio than the stock H/U. the difference is night and day

just for ****s & giggles after you get a H/U in there. play "Hick Chicks (dance mix)" by Cowboy Troy. It's a country song. There is a bass beat to it that can scare the bejesus out of you. I thought I had broken my car the first time I played it with the new H/U.
Makes the windows rattle and the seats shake. Weird vibration that moves like a sine wave. Have to feel it to understand. Only song I've heard/felt that before
