Default Installed my Detroit Rockers

Finished installing my Detroit Rockers last night. Fun job. Worst part of it was popping a keeper out on cylinder 8 and getting it put back in right. It really is better to have 2 people instead of 1. Here is a video taken with my camera so it's not that good but still gives an idea. So...the cams, stock exhaust, jlp intake, American Muscle tune - not Brenspeed. This is because my AM tunes are free so I saved a couple bucks from buying the Brenspeed tune. I have not got to drive it yet because we had an ice storm yesterday. Should be able to drive it tomorrow. But it sounds awsome in person - videos don't do these justice. Sitting in the car just idling was also cool. You can feel these just sitting still. Sometime down the line my next mod will be full exhaust: Long tubes on back.

Sounds nice. How difficult was the install? Are you an experienced mechanic or can a begginer get it done?

I am not a mechanic but I do have a good deal of experience twisting wrenches on my own personal projects. More so with motorcycles than with cars, though.

That said, I do believe a fairly novice person could do this with good tools and definitely with a partner to hold your breaker bar when you're removing and installing cam followers.

Thanks everyone, for the comments. I can't wait to drive it. Hopefully I'll be able to take it to work tomorrow, weather permitting.

Yes, the hood is fiberglass. Truefiber Venom hood.

And longtubes are definitely in my future. I know that will complete the sound and bring out the cams' full potential.

Hey bud, got a question for ya because im thinking of installing one myself cause the noise sounds like a Harley. Did you have to change any other engine components when installing the cam shaft ? What brand cam shaft did you install ? And if anyone can answer this question , how much gains can a camshaft get given a race tune ? Thanks

Congrats on a successful install. I had helping hands too for the install too. Actually I was the helper, the other guy was the smart one! Sounds great, but get ready with longtubes its gonna be LOUD......warn the neighbors! LOL

Nola, if you not use to turning wrenches I would not attempt this job. Your openning the motor up......real easy to fubar things. Those keepers are pesky and seem to want to fall out of place on their own.
