Throttle Body BBK HELP!!!
So I practically had a fairly new BBK Throttle body gave to me (paid 100 bucks for it) this past week from a buddy that took it off his car to sell the car. I came home followed the YouTube video and also the instruction sheet. Volt meter read 0.78 which I thought was low but proceeded on with the install. The volt meter read anywhere between 0.75 or 0.80 until I finally found a ground decent enough for it to settle at 0.78. I did everything by the video and instructions. The only thing I did different is I did disconnect the battery. Now my problem! I have a check engine light I checked the volt meter after install rotated the little spring made sure the butterflys open went over all my connections but still have a check engine light. Ive done the turn key off and on 4 times thing and still the engine light even turned my car completely on and let it idle it idled a little high 800RPM instead of 600 even idled smoother than before seemed like. Im almost tempted to unplug it replug my old TB up check the voltage and start all over or connecting my programmer and clearing the error codes. Can anyone give me some pointers or a solution to fix this? It would be appreciated Ive only got one more day to work on it before I gotta start driving it to work again. Thanks Guys!

The solution is to return to the stock TB or get a GT500 TB, but only if you intend to go FI or do some serious cams and LT's. Otherwise, you're wasting your $$ and your time. No gains on a NA S197 from aftermarket TB's.
For $100 bucks I'm not gonna complain. If I had the data sheet I would post it on here. The guy I bought it from his uncle owns a shop with dyno they tested before and after. On a pure stock 07 GT Auto 12 horse gain with this throttle body only difference is mine is an 08 with a K&N intake and SCT tune.
I'd complain if I paid $100 for a check engine light and a 0 HP gain. They didn't gain 12 HP from a TB. They may have gained 12 HP from a tune when they installed it, but if that's the case then they would have found that same 12 HP without the TB. An aftermarket TB is worthless on a N/A S197 without major, major mods. Remove it. Replace with stock throttle body. Problem solved.

here is some GOOD advise:
remove the BBK, remove the electronics from it. put both your stock TB and your BBk side by side, pick up your stock TB and take note to how easy and fast the blades move with almost little effort. they will move with just blowing on them......now do the same with the BBK, more than likely they are very hard to move by comparison.
more than likely the little motor in your TB that adjusts your idle is having a hard time moving those blades.....the little motor is getting hot and you are getting a code from it not being able to keep a stable idle.
solution:get some steel wool, 2000 grit wet sand paper, wd-40. you can take the blades off,and remove the center rod. you need to polish this rod up and get it smooth, then reinstall the blades.....as your installing the blades, you have to be very careful becuase alignment of the blades is critical.....you will know how well they are aligned by how easy the blades open.go ahead and polish all the edges of those blades as well, polish everything up!! when you get it all back together......just keep adjusting it untill you feel it opens just as good as your stock one did.
when i got mine, i had lots of issues as well, took it all apart and cleaned it,polished it up and its been perfect for a few moths since now!!

it would be better than having a paper weight........considering the OP even posted the question, im thinking he is concerned enough to want to get it to work, and its really not that much trouble, it does not take long to break it down and clean.
These are the codes I got this morning after 2nd install... P1224 - Throttle Position Sensor B out of Self-Test Range, P1124 - Throttle Position Sensor out of Self-Test Range. I started the car and it runs and idles smooth. This morning I took it off put the old on back on. I took my programmer set it back to the stock program and started the install of the BBK. This time the volt I got was 1.24 installed the BBK and now instead of 4 error codes I got just the two posted above. I took my programmer and cleared the codes. The car was running and idling smooth. Im about to take it out and see what happens.
