Default Missing spring clips on front brake pads help

I went to install my Hawk HPS pads and after getting the old ones out I noticed 3 of the anti rattle spring clips were broken ie popped off the new pads. Very frustrated and without internet at my warehouse I just reinstalled the stockers and came home.

After doing a forum search I found that some people said dont worry go ahead put them on. Others said they were noisy without the clips. So it looks like they will work without the clips but I really cant stand rattles so I plan to return them.

Was thinking on getting some EBC Reds instead .....I have EBC dimpled/slotted rotors waiting to be installed.

I know the bed in procedure is long for EBC Reds but will the stopping power be as good as the Hawk HPS? I dont autocross, just daily driver and trips down the 1320 track. Is there another pad I should look at?

I went with one of my rears without the spring clip you are talking about and 75% of the time when I would come to a stop it would make a loud click like the pad was sliding around in the caliper carrier.

So the back clips tend to fall off too! That sucks. What a crappy design.

I had 3 of the clips come off my front pads too - I went ahead and installed them so I could get back on the road - drove like that for about a month and then remembered to contact Hawk. They sent me out a new set of pads to replace the set I had on the car.

I had the same issues with a set of Hawk pads. Contacted the vendor, they replaced them.
Seems like a common problem.

After I noticed 3 were missing I pulled on one them just to see how strong it was and it popped off with very little pressure. I then poppede one of them back on.........it popped right back off.

Its put a bad taste in my mouth about Hawk pads. This is supposed to be an upgrade, better than OEM. It certainly doesnt feel that way. The stock clips are on there real good. I hope EBC has better quality control.

I had the spring break off (in the box) of one of my front pads (Hawk). Installed it anyway without the spring... and have been driving for about 6 months now with no problems and no noise.

Never had any noise or rattles from them. Seemed to work just fine.

I had the same problem with EBC yellows. They sent me replacements. Sometimes there is some extra noise without the clips but only after beating on the car hard. The Hawk racing pads appear to have the clips attached better because I have put them in and off the car a few times without losing a clip. The EBC clip connections are much more delicate.
