Default Wiper Fluid Squirter Problem

When I bought the car back in late October, it came completely out of wiper fluid - not a drop.

I filled it up, and now when I pull the lever to spray fluid, only a little tiny spray comes out that doesn't even make it to the windshield. When I pull it again, it sprays just fine.

Any ideas?

Sounds like there could be a blockage that only opens with the extra pressure from the second+ pumping. Remove the hose from the pump and shoot some air pressure thru it.

It almost sounds like it's losing it's prime after sitting for a bit which could indicate a leak in a hose from the tank to the nozzels. That might explain why you're initial attempt is a dribble (priming the lines) and the subsequent trys work fine.

How many times did you do this? The first time probably did not work because the hose was empty, squirting the first time built up liquid in the hose.

Now if you did this more than once and still does the same. Check the hose.

Follow the hoses from the squirters all the way to the motor/tank. Look for a leak and if you can't find a hole....replace all the hose....bring in a piece of hose to an auto parts store. You could buy 5' for around $3.00....it's inexpensive. If that doesn't fix it....the problem is probably with the motor.

More likely the pump. But I still suspect he's losing his prime (aren't we all) since it eventually works fine.

Disconnect the hose at the pump and apply some light air pressure.

While the hose is off, see if the pump actually squirts a good stream.
