Wow, that is too low of TBN to advertise such drain intervals. I'm going to love to see the UOAs from those who push it to the limit.

I would have expected a TBN of 11-12 to accomplish that.

hmm why hasn't this thread been moved down to the "oil" section?

I now realize that Castrol has two Edge motor oils ... the extended drain oil is the Edge with Titanium. I suspect the oil in the VOA is regular Edge and the Titanium version has a much higher TBN to neutralize acids for a longer period.

So that's the difference in Edge with Syntec and Edge with Titanium. Thanks 6-speed.

Simply select the proper engine oil with a heavier viscosity that will accomplish the same results, but retains the proper additive amounts.
Good explanation 'beast' !

Why is it that people have no problems ordering their "go fast" parts on the internet and waiting for it to arrive before installation, but people have a hard time ordering engine lubricants. This is such an invalid excuse to not buy a top tier engine lubricant..
Agreed ....like the poster who said he could'nt find Amsoil ...WTF....he found this forum didn't he...LOL and then he says something about the hassle of getting it each time he needs to change, another excuse......HELLO, buy it by the case. As with the New 5.0 motor and it's 8 qt change buy in gallon case lots (4 gallons)

Mikado, it was not that I couldn't find Amsoil, I did find it on the internet to order, but with paying premium price for oil and then having to pay another $60 for shipping, that would have been over 1/2 of another oil change right there and my plan was to order it by the case (4 gallons)! I am one that does not mind spending money so the price of premium oil and filters bothers me none. Castol Edge is $9.00/qt so the prices are pretty much equal to Amsoil by the quart. I do however have an issue with throwing money away on shipping and would rather be able to purchase from a store. I have since making that post found an Amsoil dealer close to my place of employment, but it turns out that he does not keep that weight or amount in stock so therefore I now have to wait. I do understand that Amsoil is supposedly one of, if not the best oil on the market, but what I do not understand if that is the case, why are there so few dealers! There may be more dealers in other parts of the country, but here in Ohio there are very few, at least in my area.

Poor Boyz, sorry to hear of your situation.........I have a suggestion / question..........how far are you from Columbus ? ....Amsoil has a warehouse there.......secondly.....get yourself a 'Preferred membership' in Amsoil, pick up directly from the warehouse and enjoy a savings off MSRP to boot !

See.......life is like a box of chocolates !!

I am about 75 miles south of Columbus. I have looked into the Preferred Membership and it would knock 20 - 25% off of the cost on their website and I have considered that. Problem is, I prefer to watch my MPG monitor rather than my Oil Life monitor so the oil change can sneek up on me and that is why I would like to be able to just drive to a dealer and pick it up. I'm sure I will get it worked out and I'm sure it will be Amsoil making the motor wet, it just appears it may cost me more than I had originally anticipated.

Cost < performance.

Amsoil is worth every penny. Sign up as a preferred customer and never look back.

You can easily solve that issue by becoming a dealer yourself. I'll help arrange it if you would like, lol.
