Hey guys I know there is tons of threads like this... but I want my own for my application. I have a Vortech blown V6 making roughly 350/340 at the wheels. This car is my daily driver and will see track duty aswell. I've always heard with a centrifugal ideally you want a high gear ratio to allow the blower boost quicker, but at the same time I do drive on the interstate sometimes... You guys speaking from experience or knowledge... Would 4.10's give me more time off in the 1/4 worth to choose over 3.73? Thanks
Oh yeah I have a 5-speed (T5) and am swapping to a 3650. I do plan on running DR's at the strip.

I always regretted doing 3.31s -> 3.73s in my GT with a Vortech on it. Granted, different setup, but the gears just didn't make a hell of a lot of difference IMO. I'd have done 4.10s if I could have done it over...

How MUCH interstate? If you're not doing a lot of long distance where sitting on the speed limit so you're not in the 2500 RPM range at about 70 MPH cruising speed, then I'd opt for 4.10's. Long distance driving at speeds to... ummmm... make some time... and you'll be cruising at 3k (about 85 MPH) and sucking fuel like crazy with the 4.10's. With 3.73's you'll be at about 2200 RPM at 70 and about 2700 RPM at 85.

Sorry. Not true Nuke.
Regarding sucking gas on long interstate trips with 4.10s. I drove from San Diego to Mississippi and back. Got 25mpg thereabouts at each fill up calc'd by hand at pump.
BTW I've never driven less than 300 miles on one tank of gas even with daily LA commute traffic. Etc. Etc. 4.10s, at least with other 4.0 V6ers, report no significant change.
So since it's not affecting us V6ers, it may not affect V8ers. Assuming that threads on here are honest in that a 4.6 gets about the same mpg as our 4.0 which most say is pretty common.

40 miles about once a week... If I take the interstate to and from work it is 20 a day, but I usually don't due to traffic. The hell with it if I have to cruise on the interstate for a long period of time I will just run the speed limit.

Given your HP level you really should consider 3.55. I had 4.10 and I probably only have about 30 more whp than you and I couldn't get them to hook up in first at all. I never did have 3.73 because I'm happy with 3.55, still get a good launch and it hooks up very nicely. Nice car I haven't seen very many v6's tricked out like that.

Yeah. That's true just too many variables between cars, weather, altitude, etc. Regarding the 300miles per tank, that's strickly using it for commuting. I always go down to San Diego to be with my baby girl and I fill up in Torrance before I head down. That tank will last me through the following work week. I've gotten over 345 mi once. Best run was going out to Mississippi to see my folks. I was getting 380mi per tank through Texas. I usually drive till there's like a gallon left in the tank cause I usually fill up to between 14.8 - 15.2 gal at each fill. Generally speaking, that's about as accuruate to 25mpg as I care to get and it's on the conservative side by nature. So I know I getting AT LEAST that. Don't care to bother with more precise cals just so I can say I get 25.7 or something. 25 is good!

But also consider I'm approaching 200lbs off the car and I weight 140lbs. Once my UPR adjustable chrom molly rear control arms come in, they'll add over 15lbs savings versus the stock stamped arms. These UPRs are over 9lbs lighter than the stock arms APIECE! Which should put my car purtnear 3145 which is my goal of 200lbs less than stock. That's fricken light for an S197 and is actually lighter than the SN-95 V6. I also run an UDP. The driver is the biggest factor though and went I'm not on it, I'm not on it. I do several burnouts per tank though I mean it's a Mustang not a Prius, but yep pretty happy with the results of my modding endeavors
