Default Shaker 500 issue

I bought my first Mustang 2 weeks ago. Today my dad insisted on changing the battery that was in it. It's a new battery, but a wal mart special one. We put a motorcraft one in it's place. My Mustang, an 07 GT, has a 6 cd changer that had two cds inside of it at the time of the battery change. The removal of the battery reset the clock and everything else in the car, but it also messed up my cd player. The shaker player is insisting that no disc is present at all and will only read "initializing" or "no disc." Everytime I open the door to the car it begins to click and whir as if it's trying to play, but nothing happens.

Anyone know a fix for this? It's really frustrating me. I'll take it back to the dealer tomorrow if I can't figure something out soon.

Thanks!
Owen

I've found a few threads regarding my issue. Looks like I'm pretty much out of luck.

Worth taking it back to the dealer to see what they can do. Also, you should know that you replaced a motorcraft battery with a motorcraft battery, they come stock with MC batteries. In any case it's good to have a new battery since the MC ones tend to fall apart relatively early in their life

I would go back to the dealership also, normally you get some kind of warranty for pre-owned vehicles.

It was a wal mart battery in the car. We replaced it with a motorcraft one. I guess I will take it to the dealer tomorrow. :/

I had this happen once (sans the walmart battery, but electricity is all the same in that the car cant tell if it's Walmart electricity vs. Motorcraft electricity)...I pulled the negative cable, put it back on, got in the cabin and as the shaker was whirring, i kept pressing the eject on the slots until i got my stuff out.

Wait. You replaced crap with worse crap? The Motorcraft batteries aren't referred to as "MotorCrap" for nothing. Even though it's new, keep an eye on it. The battery and the alternator are weak links in an altogether decently designed vehicle. Problems with either one will wreak havoc on all electronics.

Yea, my dad has this thing about stock stuff. I didn't really want the motorcraft one. I know all about them. I do some odds and ends at my Uncle's part store. . .

Dad was paying though and he insisted that the wal mart one come out lol So now I just have 2 batteries. I took it by the dealer today and they couldn't do anything with it. I had to come home to study for a test tomorrow and as soon as I started the car I pressed the cd button and it started working again. Go figure.

My louvers have been delivered, but I'm still waiting on my side scoops. Modding is about to begin Whoop whoop

Be sure to follow the prep instructions prior to attaching ANYTHING with 3M tape. Many an install has gone bad due to improper surface prep.
