to be honest i'm kind of debating about buying the mustang gt stick now because of this skip shift thing. I mean is it like super annoying? also can you please tell me what exactly happens, does the shift **** physically go from 1>4 by itself? can you just not let it goto 4 and force it into 2nd?

Just disable it and you don't have to worry about it. Its basically if you are light on the pedal, there is a solenoid in the shifter that prevents you from shifting to second, it directs you to 4th instead. It supposedly saves you fuel.

It's not a huge problem. Most of the time you have to try and get it to do it. You can unplug the solenoid or when you get a programmer it can bypass it. It's no reason to switch transmission choices over.

Yep...not a big deal. I unplugged mine a short time after I got the car. The time it would catch me is slow traffic, making a right turn, Shifting in the turn to accel, and then I would try to accel with traffic.....a bit boggy. Unplugged it and never worried.

Five min. job and tie the harness to another one close by to keep it from hanging down. It is on the top passenger side of the tranny, near the back.

No, a message will come up on the dash saying 1st to 4th and it wont let you shift into second, as others said it takes 5 mins to unplug and requires no electrical skill

For the skip shift, I had it happen to me on an 06 Goat. Basically from my experience when you're going along and you're not flooring it (under the correct conditions as listed above) it'll come up and lock you out of 2nd. I just kept driving in first up the rpm range until it went away. I like listening to the rev up anyway.

It doesn't physically move to fourth, it just blocks 2nd if you try to go to it.

Edit: And apparently with the stang it's an easy unplug. Go for it!
