I run a 87 SCT tune on my CAI STEEDA...AMAZING, I could not believe what happened to my 2011 GT, the power I get is so much more evident, it is almost unbelievable...
NOW, after running a 87 tune for a week, I changed gas, have all 93 octane and tuned for 93...Guess what, I think it did not do anything at all, I felt no difference at all, it is like I have never changed the 87 tune, it is as fast , as noisy, as efficient as used to be with 87 tune...no changes at all.
Why would that be true? any inputs on this issue please, it would be nice to have a view from someone who has experienced this before.

Thank you
safe ride,

Is your SCT tune canned or custom? I haven't used the canned SCT tunes for mustangs but from what I hear they don't take advantage of all the power you can get out of the engine. Maybe their 93 tune is just more mild than it really could be.

Personally not sure though, but I know for me, my 87 tune feels really tame compared to the 93.

My 93 tune doesn't wind up as nice in the lower RPM range as my 87 and 89 tunes but it's a screamer in the upper RPM ranges. Don't expect your different tunes to be all about a few more RWHP. There are other characteristics that change. For normal, everyday driving, my 89 tune suits me compared to my 87 and 93 tunes.

Agreed.....

Upon reciept of my Bama Tunes... I immeadiately loaded 91 Race...WOW ! What a dif over stock....I actually felt it was a bit too "Edgy" for the street...

So I loaded the 87 Perfomance Tune....well.... lets just say that lasted about 24 hours....then right back to 91 Race...Hahaha

Now it just seems normal !!

Cant wait to get to the Track next month !!

No. The Limer is 4.0 and stock. I'm talking about my GT.

The tune I got is directly from STEEDA, custom tuned for the PCM I have in my GT (VIN).

I drove today again, took it to the highway, the only difference really was that the gears are a little (just a little) more aggressive, but no more than that.

I will talk to steeda and see what they say tomorrow.

Tks for the reply.

The higher the Octane the better the performance. Might as well go all out

+1 I bought it back in February.

Used the 87 S tune for a couple weeks, then switched to 91P. Not going back to the lower grade. I prefer the ability of the 91P to spin the tires when I'm WOT and the car shifts to second (auto tranny) 3rd kicks me in the pants at WOT!

Tried the 91R tune...throtte tip in is too much for an auto IMO since you can't use a clutch to feather it.

Not entirely accurate, IMO. Although I do believe the Steeda tunes to be superior to the FRPP and the canned SCT tunes, I don't believe they're as aggressive as the BAMA and Brenspeed tunes.

Default newby question

I am new here to this forum and need to ask what I need to do to my ride.
I just bought a 2004 Mustang GT Convertible with 23,569.0 miles with flowmaster exhaust with H Pipes, has 5 spd tranny and 4.6 engine in showroom condition for a steal. What mods for performance would you mustang expert guys do?
