Top speed, dissapointing.
So, I went to the Mojave Mile shootout, and figured I was going to find out where the speed limiter was at... didn't expect to find it in my first shakedown run.
I've got the Ford Racing/Whipple tune, which it seems anyone who goes for a dyno tune on the whipple ends up losing HP, so I'm trying to stay with the "stock" tune. I don't have a tuner yet, but it looks like I'm going to need one...
Among other things, my speedometer is off by 10-15 MPH at the top speed. The speed limiter kicked in at 142MPH as measured by the speed trap which is accurate, my speedo was registering somewhere north of 150, so I definitely need to first, get the speedo calibrated properly, which I'm guessing should be able to be changed by tire revs/mile, I also should double check to verify that the gear ratio is correct.
Then I need to get rid if the limiter all-together.
So, anyone know what tuner I should get and whether I can keep the stock whipple tune and just change the rev/mile, gear ratio, and eliminate the speed limiter?

Contact AM (American Muscle) about their tunes.
Why would you want to disable the top speed limiter? Unless this is going to be a regular event for you and your car, there's just no reason to disable...
Are you on OEM tires or tires that can handle speeds north of 150? Most speed limiters are set by the car manufacturers based on the limitations of the tire.

There may be no reason to disable it, but there is also no reason to leave it enabled. I've got (y) rated tires, so they are good to 186+ (even thought the car will not ever get that fast).
Events like this will probably become a regular thing for me.

I've never seen someone get on the dyno with a whipple and lose power. Then again, I deal with tuners that know what they're doing.
Well I know on the 2011 GT the limiter is 155, but with my tune from a buddy of mine in Bessemer, Alabama the limiter is off and apparently I need a bigger speedo because I've been past 160 with the needle still going a few times... But with the SCT tuner you can set your speed limiter starting at 20mph

Most custom tunes come with the speed limiter set at some ridiculously high value that you'll never reach, even SC'd, and with the rev limiter cranked higher than the OE limit. When I received my Brenspeed tunes, my speed limiter was set at over 200 MPH and my rev limiter at 6800 RPM (as opposed to the factory 6250).
Was it worth it, yes. Could it have been better organized, yes. Will they be better prepared next time, probably. Will I go back in October, probably (where else am I gonna find out how well the fixes work?).
Anyway, in a nutshell, fun event, lot's of great cars... not enough mustangs, and I felt ashamed of the number, but I had a reasonable excuse, bouncing off the speed limiter a little over halfway down the mile. Everyone said that's the best way to turn up a "low" number, but I don't want to know what the announcer was saying, maybe something like "...here's another Mustang, we'll be waiting awhile for the next run."
This shows the psi that should be added depending on speed. The w rating appears on this page, but there is a link to other speed ratings, including y.
