Default Info on some D.I.Y. interior upgrades needed...

I've got a few questions I'm hoping some of you can help me with.

1. I'm looking to repaint my center console (it's been scratched to hell since I got the car!) and I'm wondering if I'd be able to drive the car without it being in place? (it's my DD and I work 2 jobs ~70 hours a week)

2. Pretty much the same thing as question 1 but regarding AC vents. I want to black them out to go with my overall theme.

3. How does "welt" hold up over time? I think this is one of the easiest, cheapest and quickest interior mods you can do so I just want to know if it's going to be falling out all the time aka a PITA.

4. Do I need to use adhesion promoter if I'm blacking out the GT emblems? Also how easy is this task?

5. Do the plastic pieces on the door speakers come off easily? I'm thinking of spraying them chrome or satin myself to save some cash rather than purchasing some.

I know I'm asking a lot from you guys but I'd really appreciate some help as I'm looking to complete all of this by the end of next weekend if I can.

Oh and one more question, I'm going to purchase shock tower covers too and paint them myself. I just want to know if there are any that I can use with a strut tower brace because that will be a future purchase and I dont' want to waste my money on the covers if this will be a problem.

Well I can answer 1, 2, and 5.

1: Yes, I drove around for like 2 weeks with no center console. It's fine other than having no cupholders lol.

2: Yeah, I also drove around with no a/c vent so my painter could match the silver on it.

5: Yes, just pull on them. They pop right off.

The welt holds up just fine. going on 4+ years with no issues. I don't forsee any issues with it either. I would use adhesion promoter for whatever you want to paint. If you are painting plastic, adhesion promoter is a must. Metal, usually primer does it. Badges, do it anyways to be safe.
