I also think the vinyl stripes look kinda cheap. Even when done nice. Then you got fade and cracking issues. Friend of mine's stang came with factory stripes, and when they started to crack realy bad, and he took them off they left ghost-like stripes on the car.

Glad i got mine painted on, look so much nicer and worth the extra dough.

No but I would like to know where anyone gets anything done on these cars at a "low" price. Just since I've owned the thing I've probably racked up $2,500 IN maintenance on two gear swaps and the supercharger install plus another $900 for the left rear quarter panel to be repainted, and if it's 900 for a panel I don't even want to know how much it would be to get a stripe painted on. If I did get it removed however I don't think there would be a ghost stripe the car has been garage kept almost it's entire life.

Interesting! Do you have pictures?

I agree, painted stripes are so worth the money. My Conversion Van came with Silver Metallic stripes and it's cracking really bad. Some vinyl colors do hold up longer than others, like white, but after a while even they will take a beating with the hot sun.

So OP you have to consider the money spent into vinyl could be invested in painted stripes.

Sorry pascal, I'm a newb on the body work stuff...If $400 was the number I'd do it right now...The problem is trusting someone to do it...Wish I was closer to ya...Where do I start the search? Who paints on stripes...I guess I really don't know who I'm looking for...I know who I'm not though (not even sure they paint stripes, but they won't be painting mine) Ford, Maaco, body repair shops...Seems like it'd be an easy task to accomplish, but the trust is hard to come by...Any ideas?

Painted on are by far the best if you have the money its the only way to go. More options (color, size ect.) Worry free, maintenance free, and you can't beat looks like this.

I have had 4 Mustangs since 2004 - none with stripes. The 2005+ look great with stripes in my opinion - mahabone.

I would like some kind of striping on my 2011 (especially on the hood bulge) and would probably go with the vinyl from a reputable vendor like Baltimore Street Mods. I would also look into what was needed to keep the stripes protected and looking good.

I see stripes on new Mustangs and Camaros at the dealership. I guess these are vinyl...? I wonder what kind of warranty the dealers provide with these "original purchase" stripes....

Note: for some reason Graphic Express has more selection of front hood bulge stripes (and matching trunk) for the 2011+ than BSM right now...
