Default cam install q

How hard is it to perform a cam install? I want to do this myself but i don't know how tough this is to do. I ask because i might purchase this and headers instead of Rims...nuke inspired me unknowingly by stating "go before show always!" if anyone is experienced in this type of install and lives in Ohio let me know if you could help and dinner/beer is on me

Do a search. There's a really good write up on here, step by step instructions with very good pics as you go.

It's not terribly difficult but if you don't have
the tools it would be ok to
have a shop do the cams. I'd
say read the writeup and if it's
Something you feel like doing then
I'm sure you'll do fine.

ok, so here's my other question...i'm planning on getting cams and kooks LT headers/ORX pipe...should I upgrade the gears first? or could I do this later and why? I'm running stock gears in an auto btw.

from my understanding the car will run better from take off with lower gears. The cams cause the rough idle so its just a good idea to have a lower gear. It just makes for better DD but i think u can get by with your stock gears.

If your not a hands on mechanical guy I would not do cams without somebody helping you. You are openning your motor up. You could fubar your motor if you dont pay attention to all the details. Its not like headers which are just nuts and bolts.

setting the timing of the motor is a little tricky (for me anyways) but everything else is a cakewalk... compress that damn spring and make SURE the follower is being pushed down along with the spring. Other than that, you should be golden. Did a few cam swaps but not on my own car...
