Default Paddleshifters

I saw on another forum that someone had replaced their manual shifter with an Auto...not sure if it was fully functional, possibly just having the basic D N R 1 2 3 functions on it.

Reading around I found something called a manual valve body.
Researching, I still knew nothing about what they were talking about.

But from what I understand, it would turn your fully auto into a partially manual?

But that's aside from the point.

I want paddle shifters. I have an auto now, but I'm sure there would be someway to rig up some paddles that would switch me between D N R 1 2 3,
that I could install behind my wheel.

Help?

Sorry for the double post, but it won't let me edit my post.

Note, I did find bolt-on paddle shifters online. But they're topping $500.
Anyone have some type of DIY mod?
Purchase some paddles and put them on, do the wiring and such myself?

Interesting but I can’t imagine it would be any good. Even on top super cars the paddle shifting usually is horrible; there is this big lag in between gears.

The cars that seem to do it very well are the cars with the twin clutch systems, the Evo MR comes to mind.

I had heard a rumoer the 2011+ would get paddle shifters but it turned out to be a LIE! I also would like that.

A guy with an auto corvette with paddle shifters said he traded his manual in on it because he liked it so much better, less effort and when he wanted to he could manually shift his auto with them, like for taking windy roads quickly. but he was an older guy and maybe he shifted slow as hell anyway

need the dual clutch auto like the GTR has

The trans in the 05 - 10 is essentially the same as it was in my old car, Lincoln LS. 5R55. That car has SelectShift, using the autoshifter to move between gears, like on a video game wheel/pedal set. A guy in TX used paddles from an M3, i believe, and wired it so that it responded along with (or possibly instead of) the standard SelectShift.

Technically, I would assume it is possible. Just how much tuning would the Mustang need since there was no SelectShift to begin with. Let me search LvC, I'll post the a link to his thread here.

It was at the top of the search page when I ran his name, easy enough.

^that is awesome. But our cars don't have a specified "manual mode" or SST or whatever. I think?

Also, kput did you say those paddle shifters you saw, bolted on? Sounds easy enough. I wish ford or aftermarket had come up with something for us auto guys other than that ugly TCI shifter (no offense)...

Updating,
I found a thread where someone added it all over onto his Infiniti.
It's a great guide, but alas, not for a 'stang. But the concept seems relatively simple. He explains how the Infiniti's computer determines if it's in Manual, or upshift/downshift mode by use of a grounded wire, etc etc.
He explains the wiring, relays, setup, etc.
http://www.infinitiscene.com/forum/s...ead.php?t=1369

Although it seems the car he did it on was a manual.
So an auto would be much easier?

So far it looks as if I'll have to take apart my console, and do some looking around. See how the wiring and such is setup for the shifting.
I can buy some paddles on ebay that should work, although they look a bit pricey.

Also I'm thinking I'd need to add a gauge that tells me if I'm in P R N D 1 2 3 and such. Not sure how I'll accomplish that.

here's the link to his writeup.

Anyone got some hits/links/knowledge to help me out?
