The RD isn't just a tool for reducing the possibility of getting caught for speeding, it'sa piece of high tech gear. Probably the larger percentage of the reason why I paid over $400 for my RD was because of the tech geek in me.

I get followed around even when I'm just running errands, and abiding the speed limit down the the single digits... Sometimes an officer will even close the gap behind me in multiple lane roads and try to bully me into going faster (no other obvious reason for them following so close in a road with another open passing lane).

You sound like a good cop (great in fact), but admit it- your characteristics are not all that common in Indiana lol. At least, where I live the police are extremely pompous and seem to think anyone that is younger with a half decent car deserves a ticket.

All that said (sorry for rant), I have the v1 and had an old cobra before it and I'll say the cobra was good for a few years then got really outdated and inconsistent. The v1 however is going strong.
Indy Metro, Greenwood PD, and Franklin PD are the worst. With the Johnson County Sheriff Department, I can usually get off by saying, "Oh, by the way, hows Terry doing? Haven't heard anything about the big charity ride yet." Then they get the message that I'm pretty good friends with the Sheriff.

But - Indy metro... Some of them just pull people over for fun. I was going faster than this Toyota next to me (I had just gotten on the ramp and didn't know the speed), and he pulled over the Camry that I was passing rather briskly.

Franklin PD pulled over and warned my friend about her broken tail light when she hadn't even pulled out of her driveway yet.

Greenwood PD officers are tailgators. Some of them pull out behind people just to scare them, then turn right around and pull back into the same spot.

you're right I didn't take insurance into consideration. I guess my financial situation and car progress is also different too. $1500 to spend on just my car, I'm making it A) faster or B) better at stopping since I'm still rolling factory brakes.

Yup, I agree with the indy metro officers. They can be the worst sometimes, had my cousin get pulled over by them for a "loud" exhaust and the guy was appallingly unprofessional. Made snide remarks about his car, or would completely ignore questions asked by us. The racism is also a HUGE part even today IMO, where I live there are so many foreigners (asians, indians) that they are constant targets for bullying from officers due to the whole "language barrier" stereotype- I like to watch their faces when said "foreigner" replies in flawless English right back to them.

Honestly, a radar may seem overly expensive for some of you (and that's understandable) but for the younger crowd, especially the ones with bad local officers, they are a great investment. Especially considering my first ticket might very well increase my premium by 50% or more.
