Default Shaker 500 stereo - 'bad disc' problem

My shaker cd 500 is no longer working and rejects ever CD with a 'bad disc' error. I spoke to a person from the service department at the local dealership and the individual who they referred me to have it fixed told me that my only option is to have a new stereo installed with a cost of $325. According to this individual the shaker 500 is touchy and once it is off track there is no way to fix it. Does this make sense? If so I would be interested in alternative choices for which radio/CD player I could consider installing instead (or if I should put another Shaker 500 in there). Thanks in advance for any advice that you have!

That's not bad $325 for a factory replacement radio. Our dealership gets more then that. The Shaker 500 isn't "touchy" your radio is just broken.

get an aftermarket.they make double din to fit in the same space or go like me with a regular one plus a storage space underneath.I had the exact same problem,so did many others.your lucky it did not happen with 6 cds in there because they don't come out.
