Default So I was watching "Inside West Coast Customs" and...

I have seen it a number of times.
Some of their cars I really like and some I do NOT.
Well... I wondered if they had a website so I found it and found an article about a Mustang they made for Charity.

It looks like they mislabeled this 2011 5.0 for a 2011 GT500.
Scroll down on the front page and read the article.

When I got a second look it acutally did look like a GT500 under the hood.
SO WHY would they put 5.0 tags on this and a GT emblem on the back?
I dunno if they did a GT500 engine swap on this thing and called it a GT500 or what...

The car looks pretty good but I cannot believe such a shop would
mis label a car. One way or another it is mislabeled. Very odd.

Here is a link to their front page where both the article, and numerous pics are:

Sold for $105k...yeah...

And...

Complete with Dixie flag, stupidly large rims, parked in a handicapped spot, with a token black guy in the background. Nice. I lol'ed.

That thing is hideous.
I can't tell if it is a 5.0 with a Ford Racing blower on it or a 5.4. My guess is that they simply put a blower on a 5.0 and that is why it has the badges. What's left of the front fascia isn't a GT500.

Like I said some of their stuff is just BAD.
I've seen one or two things I liked though.

They did a Cuda for that guy that used to be the host of Fear Factor I think.
His Cuda was just BAD ***.

The thing is.... I REALLY don't see how this place is so "famous" for it's work.
I have seen better work done in MANY places.
I guess you put something on T.V. and people think you are elite from then on.

I can't believe Shelby teamed up with those guys for a a car once.
A 05-06GT he wanted turned into a "West Coast Customs/Shelby".
Shelby told them he was thinking he wanted 800HP on it and the ONLY thing they did to the engine
was slap a Vortech on it...
Shelby actually talked like he liked it. Maybe he was unaware at that time that is ALL they did to the engine.

I just could not BELIEVE Shelby requested 800HP and those guys just called Vortech and had them come install a SC on the car.
I mean if Shelby asked MY company to make a special edition car with him I would have made for DAMN SURE he got what he asked for in paticulars.
That was just a SAD result to Shelby's request.

The plan was for Shelby to offer the cars with that place as well as a special edition car.
However I never saw that happen or offered at the Shelby plant OR theirs.
I guess he may have tossed the idea after he saw what in fact was put into the car.

I'd just love to know how many of these shows can get people with this kind of money to just chuck absently at something like this.

Charity event, given, but still. Other events from what I recall cashed in even more for many cars. Only in California...

If it was shown as a GT500 that buyer who chucked that money might be able to successfully give them a world of hurt.
But still... I would still blame the buyer for not making sure they knew what they were getting.
Good grief....

Rice plain and simple. Why can't someone just make subtle changes that look classy? Instead they gotta throw stupid deep dish wheels on that look hideous and paint and body kits from the Fast and Furious. Sometimes I just wish the whole ricer, lowrider and big wheel fad would just disappear for good.

Yeah. They should have stuck with just the stripe and then do some subtle changes that went with the retro look of these cars.

Instead they rice out something meant to represent the old school Mustang.
Just STUPID.

As far as that fad goes... I could care less if rice crap stayed with imports and such.
But leave that stuff there and don't try to bring it over to our legacy.
They have their "legacy" of crap and originally it stayed with their brands. That was fine with me even though it looked silly to me.
But dayum like I said leave our legacy alone and don't tread on the Muscle/Pony car.
Our cars NEVER have been about that stuff and should NEVER be.

Besides the retro look of these you can still make it look a bit more modern without the rice.
I HATE how on that show they say "we wanna stay with the way this car looks but put a modern edge on it", then all they do is put rice.
MODERN DOES NOT=RICE.

I am digging those slits they put in the stock cowl of the hood..I wish i had them on my car.
I think to many people are getting their panties in a wad about a car someone else made that someone liked and bought..Who cares really. Plus if they made that much for charity isnt that a good thing..not a matter if the car looks that great.

These guys are there to make money...the love cars are not driving the business decision, the market is......and there you have it, rice. That said, I would never buy a car from these kind of places, you simply can't do good workmanship with those schedules. On some of them, the paint is still wet when the customer pics up the car
