Congrats Nuke, on the move...Do you know where you're going to live? You mentioned north of Tampa..You might want to consider west of Tampa..I live in Dunedin, which was picked by Money magazine as the best place to live on the Gulf Of Mexico..It's a neat town...Let me know if you need any help..I know Hillsborough (Tampa) and Pinellas pretty good..

Not sure where your planning to settle down at. Check -out the FishHawk area. they have a shuttle bus to McDill and its a great area for kids and the schools are top-notch

Thanks, all. We'll be hunting for rental property (plenty to choose from) within about 45 minutes of Crystal River beginning about 2 weeks from now, then hope to have our stuff moved and the dogs here in early September. In between, I'll be starting work and figuring out how to get both Stangs and the boat there. Fortunately, I'll be working 4-10's. If the job looks like it'll run long-term (for me that's more than 1 year) we'll consider buying if we find a steal. The housing market looks very wide open.

No kids left in the nest so school district quality isn't as much a factor other than resale value if and when we buy.

Congrats nuke! As you already know, FL will be a big change from Mississippi. I lived in jackson/Clinton for a little while as a kid.
