Newb With A Few Tire/Wheel/Spring Questions
Hello everyone, newb here, active on many other forums but this is my first post on this or any Mustang forum. I've been out of the Mustang scene since my high school and college days in the late 80's to early 90's when I owned an SVO(fun car). I have already tried to use the "search tool" feature and could not find exact answers to my specific question, if my questions are redundent and have already been answered elsewhere on this forum I appologize in advance.
I just picked up a used, super clean low mileage 2007 GT C/S. The stock chrome/polished 18" wheels are not doing it for me. I will be keeping those stock wheels and mounting up some R compound Hoosiers for road course track days. For street duty I was looking at 19's but found there to be a much nicer selection of 20" wheels available. First question, does anyone have pics of their Mustang with 20's? I don't want this thing to look like a ghetto cruiser, that is not the look I am trying to attain. I have seen 20's on new Camaros and Challengers and they look great, but not seen them on a Mustang. I am installing a set of Eibach Pro Kit springs this weekend that will lower the ride height about 1.3 inches and intalling a beefier Eibach anti-roll bar, those two things should firm up the ride nicely.
As for tire sizes if I go with 20's, I have heard I can run 275's in the rear and 255's up front on stock suspension. Does anyone have experience with these tire sizes with their car lowered approx 1.3"? Any rubbing issues? Do fenders need to be rolled? I spoke with Tire Rack and they said the overall circumference of a set of 275/35/20's is only a mm or two larger than the stock 18" wheel tire set-up, can anyone verify this? Thanks.

I'm not a fan of 20's (let alone my 18's) due to the lack of sidewall and how it detracts from the retro look. But that's just me.

I have essentially the same car, I won't be tracking it as I spend most of my weekends in a VanDeimen F2000 car here on the west coast. It seems to me that handling is a priority with you, if it is forget the 20in. wheels because not only are you going to have a VERY harsh ride and give up most of the handling advantage your mods would have given you. My car is coil over, with RaceLine 18in. wheels and 275 40 555 in front 285 45s in back, It,s just my opinion, but I think you would be much better off on 18s.
