If you keep the oil changed, the 4.6's have a history of living forever... This is absolutely true for the 2V motors (Taxi's and cop cars)... Not sure why the 3V would be different...

I agree with all of this. My dad has driven Crown Vics with 4.6s for years--took all of them well over 100,000. He changes his oil every 3000 miles and I do the same.

My stang has 109,000 miles on it and going great. Only replaced tires, oil, filters, sway bar links (thunking noise) and fuel filters. It's been a great car so far. I think I still have a long way to go.

These mod motors will last forever, just find one that has been taken care of and you should have zero problems.

The deal you listed is terrible, I got my 05 GT with 18,500 for a about 18,500(yeah $1 a mile ). I got my mustang from CarMax give them a chance I couldn’t be happier with the deal I got. Don’t finance through CarMax and waive their warranty plan; the service is horrible, or at least it is here in San Diego. You can’t beat their prices though and they will give you good deals on any trade in you have.

Some places are still asking premiums. Saw a 47k mile gt with a sticker of $21k. I laughed.

I think overall, the new bread of Ford engines are very well built and last a long time with minimal care and on schedule oil and filter changes. For the rest of the car, the Mustang is a very simple in design car from the suspension up. Not only that, it is fairly easy to work on, not requiring a lot of special tools (with the exception of the computer based parts). For most of my life I have turned my cars around ever 3 to 4 years. My current 2008 V6 convertible will stay in my barn a long time. It just may be my last new car. I waited 30 years, 1 ex wife and 2 grown daughters to get it....
