Default 2005-2009 Engine Durability Question

I have a classic 66 but am now looking to get into some of the nicer features of the newer style mustangs. I have been looking at the 05-09 mustangs. My question is how many miles will these engines last with normal wear and tare / maintenance????

Reason i ask i have seen a 06 GT with 75000 miles for 13500 and even a few other mustangs with close to 60000 miles for a similar price. Im looking for a car to last me about 4-5 years and we are talkin 1500 miles a month MAX.

Thanks in advance

I know some guys have over 100,000 miles on their cars and they are going strong. Really depends on who owned it before you and how well they took care of it. As far as price I think that is a little high for milage, I have seen cars with like 50k go for around $14,000.

I've got nearly 112,000 on my 06. Runs great. I recently threw a can of Restore in just to see what happened, and it seems like I may have picked up a little power. Either way, the motor feels great and I imagine it will keep going for quite a while. And this motor has been abused both at autocrosses and by my newbie mechanic skills.

The other Ford vehicles we've had have all gone way over 200,000 miles with just oil changes and other basic maintenance as far as the motor goes.

Ford's 4.6L & 5.4L are notoriously tough and long lasting. In my opinion they are just as tough as the diesels that Navistar has been putting in the Superduty line.

Talk to JimC. He has a V6 with WELL over 100000 miles. And he has had a supercharger or nitrous on for most of them.

Thanks... i appreciate the input.

As far as the 13500 price tag for the 06 gt with 75000 miles yes it is high if was just basic GT but has a few little extras which i do like such as the wheels navi system and such. But im still about 2 weeks away from final decision so will be narrowing my search down. I just wanted to know how well these engines holdup and if could get the 75000-100000 miles out of it over next so many years.

I paid 14,000 for my '06 v6...28,000 miles.

They wanted 16.

I know it's a little different engine, but I have a 4.6 2valve in my wife's Lincoln that has 220,000 miles & the ONLY thing ever replaced were a couple coils!!!!

168K on my old 1999 GT with a 2 valve... I drove it really hard from 104-168K and my only issues were IAC and coil packs
