3.90s or 4.10s?!

As to OP, ditto on Bmr4life's statement. 3.73 or 4.10 as I really wouldn't even consider 3.90, as they're not offered by FR(as also stated by others). From what you're saying, highway isn't an issue, so I'm another +1 for 4.10 FRPP all the way, which seems to be everyone's consensus.
Love mine. Even when I occasionally have to deal with it suckin' it down like an alcoholic at an open bar when on the highway for any prolonged period.

4.10's are fun, but if you plan on going FI at some point, I wouldn't recommend them at that point. They are fun on naturally aspirated cars, but you will just be sitting there spinning if you plan on going Supercharger/Turbo at a later time.

Agreed. I wanted to go 4.10's on my car, but was talked out of it.
1) I do a lot of highway driving.
2) I am going to supercharge the car.
The main reason they had for going 3.73 was the plans of FI. I'm still happy with the 3.73's as well. It's a nice all around gear, and pretty friendly on the highway. I still have a pretty good pull from 65-70 in 5th gear. At around 80 mph, I'm turning right about 2500.

i say 4.10s if you stay under 450 whp, 3.73s if your over that. my first gear is so short and usless that somtimes i just skip it all together. highways with 4.10s is no problem for me. i can still do about 120 in 4th gear.

Yes I read your post...
But I did not see where you stated what gear you went from to the 4.10's.
That is why I asked if you thought such a tiny difference in gear ratio would make a difference on the singing.
Now I saw just now you talking about 3.31's. That is quite a bump compared to the difference 3.90's to 4.10's would produce with singing.
Get what I'm saying? If he is choosing between 3.90's and 4.10's if there was that issue it would more than likely be present with BOTH gear ratio's since they are so close.
Are you feeling a little moody? LOL
A bit snappy there my friend.
I don't know about you, but I definitely heard my 4.6 singing on the highway. There was no question what speed I was going, especially if I got around 80mph. Constant 3k rpms is not for the faint of heart, which sucked because I liked going 80. I had to relegate myself to the middle lane doing 70mph or else my mpg would tank.

I don't do much highway driving and don't care about going high speeds I want to have ***** at bottom and some top end for the track or street against others.. And 4.10s were my first choice then 3.90s were but I hear that there's a lot of whine to 3.90s I just need som opinions please
The only times you might choose 3.90's would be if you absolutely need to avoid an upshift that would be forced by the 4.10's but not the 3.90's, and there aren't very many situations where this is likely to occur.

I thought you were not comparing the closeness and just saying what you got with 4.10's vs. 3.31's.
My bad there!
