Damn it. ANd I paid for the extended warranty too. Grrr. Oh well, the only thing that has me concerned is this #8 failure thing. I know it's super-rare but this car MSRP'ed at 39K. May hold off on it for now with gears and tuning. It just sucks though cause I hate the way it shifts stock.

I wonder if axle-backs will void the warranty too.

Axle backs don't require a tune and you can always take them off if you go to the dealership.

got a tune on my '06 auto, yes it is like night and day, a totally different car! Transmission shifts hard, like putting a shift kit in an older type trans. Also, supposed to extend the life of the trans, positively shifting into gear vs the stock way of sliding into gear (more friction)

Now on the gears, IMHO, unless you're going to the strip, I would not mess with the gears. I did and opened up a can of worms. 3 gear installs by 3 different shops, same problems! (Gear whine, clunking noise when coming to a stop).

Also, any time you go to a lower gear ratio (numerically higher), the rpm's will be higher at any speed than with the stock gears, so gas mileage will suffer, but by how much I don't know. I went from 3.31's to 3.73's, not much of a difference, went to 4.10's, yes noticed a difference in gas mileage, I have to hit the gas station more frequently on road trips, than when I was stock.

A lot of people will switch back to the original stock tune as well before going to the dealer. I don't know if the dealer can determine if the tune as been changed. To play it on the safeside you might want to just wait until the warranty expires, I don't know how long the extended warranty is but the wait will definitely be worth it. 3.73s are a blast
