Default Lumbar seat faliure

So I just bought my 06 Mustang a month ago and so far I love it! But I tried to adjust the lumbar support in the seat and it got stuck all the way down. Now when you press the button all it does is make a click click click sound and doesn't move at all. After doing some research it sounds like the gear is stripped in the motor. My question is since I bought a warranty from the chevy dealership I bought it at, will they fix it? Also, if I want to just do it myself where can I get the parts from and how hard is it to do? thanks

Call the Chevy dealer or the warranty company to see what is covered.

That's exactly the same problem and sound mine does. Let me know what you find out.

good luck with this fix, the lumbar motor is in the back rest and would require removing the seat covers and foam to get to it.

Mine broke as well, but it was covered by warranty. Apparently, it is a pretty easy fix (took an hour according to the work order), but you have to be careful if you have side airbags. There is a de-powering procedure to follow before you pull the seat.

It's an easy fix if you are mechanically inclined and are used to taking care of things yourself. I did mine in a couple of hours on a Saturday afternoon.

Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but is there a source for the drive gears for the lumbar support motor?

I bought a '07 ragtop for my daughter, and among other things, the lumbar adjustment didn't. I found the spring had broken, so I used the 'hose clamp' repair method. But when I put it back together, the problem remained.

So I took the top off the drive motor, and I found at least a dozen pieces of nylon planetary gears.

Until I find a solution, I rigged the lumbar 'pad' with two big zipties to tension it. It may stay that way...
