So I ordered my 2012 on 8/1 and have yet to get a build date or VIN. I heard a couple weeks ago that nav was holding up a lot of orders, which I ordered, but then was told by Ford that was not the case. However, in another forum someone said that he ordered his on 7/3 and hasn't gotten it yet. Another person speculated that it was related to nav.

Does anyone have anything definitive?

How many weeks should it take to get a build number?

How long does it take from build to delivery?

It's not necessarily how long the install takes, as much as if they even have the parts in stock at the assembly plant. Last I heard, the electronics packages are holding up production because (from what I read on another forum) they have to be shipped from overseas and they themselves are having shortages/recouping from the tsunami/etc.

I would take the speculation with a grain of salt, but chances are that the nav is somewhat contributing to your delay.

There is no exact order time-frame as to VIN assignment, production, etc. High demand vehicles that generate a lot of retail orders may take several months to get scheduled for production. I would love to track your order and keep you updated on the general status. Please send me a private message with your order number, which should be on your receipt from your dealer. It is usually 4 digits, 3 numbers and 1 letter, or just 4 numbers. I will also need your dealer number, or their name and location. I will make your wait as enjoyable as possible.
