I was getting ready to say blacksmoke. Funny. My dad gets paranoid when he opens the hood of my engine bay. Saleen supercharger which are known to be loud plus cams just makes for alot of engine noise. He always is questioning it which annoys me.

Just trade me cars man. I'll take care of the ticking and all the other problems,
and you can have my v6. ^-^

Its actually safer if you do track the car occasionally, cause it gets rid of the urge to race everyone and their mother....

I'm also OCD about my Stang...and the ticking noise would concern me too. There is a few threads on oil that you should probably checkout. I'm running the Ford Synthetic, whatever it is, and car is quite. Go into boost every time I drive it, no issues so far!

Hell when our transmission went bad in our 06GT and we had TEETH missing it in the ONLY clue we had was a noise it was making which we thought were from the cams.
I was being as serious as can be about getting unusual noises checked out when they arise.

Luckily we have a GREAT mech that is a friend of mine at the dealership and he knew it was not a normal noise and traced it to the transmission.
The car drove fine. Turns out we had to have the transmission replaced though.

Be safe Grabber, go get it checked out.

Never mind everyone, the tick/hissing still exists. I guess I just didnt drive it enough last night to get the full effect. I am thinking its an exhaust leak cause when I drive past cars, walls, trees, etc. I hear a hissing sound like pshhhhhhhhhh. I am removing my headers anyway and putting the stock manifolds and gaskets back on so if it still continues after that than I can rule an exhaust leak out. Its coming from the drivers side and can mainly be heard from next to the wheel and under the car and nothing is heard from under the hood.

I think you answered your own question when the word 'pypes' was mentioned...

Well yeah I was just reading over on the fnsweet forum and one guy mentioned he had basically the same issue I have when he was trying to help someone else. He stated "while headers are popular among hot rodders, they arent so popular with hot rodders ear's". He and a few other people said that with headers it gave them noises they didnt like to much, but this is mainly due to the difference in exhaust materials. The oem manifolds are much thicker than the material used for the PYPES headers which in return will result in more exhaust noise off the motor. Only thing that buggs me is it just recently got louder but I am thinking its a leak. They are coming off anyway

I had no idea you were 18! And you have that ride? Wow Grabber, that's insane haha. I'm 21 and working with at least 175 less hp. It sounds a lot like an exhaust leak or just the crappy headers. I've got myself some pypes shorties and if I listen real closely I can hear the some unpleasant noises as well. However, I don't worry about it!

It's ok to be concerned at some points, but you've gotta enjoy the ride. Unless you feel a spring/strut give out going down the interstate, see your water temp spike, or see smoke billowing from under the hood, take a deep breath, chill, and go drive your car. These cars are meant to be enjoyed, so do just that!

Headers should NOT give a sound like they are leaking.
That is BULLSHAT! Not to talk bad about FNsweet but there are LOTS of guys on that forum who have no real world mechanical knowledge
of Mustangs. Some do... but MANY do not. Again I am not saying it is a bad forum or talking bad about them.

Something is not fitted correctly causing a leak, or the headers are not whee the sound is coming from.
A leaking sound is NOT a common thing for headers.
Whoever told you that is full of fried bologna.

I had a shop try to give me a story a rattling noise in my dash that sounded like a damn bee hive was normal when I had a full exhaust job done.
It was B.S. as well. The damn X pipe was installed UPSIDE down by them and was causing the pipe to hit metal up in the car.
