Default Replacing stepper motor?

My gas gauge has issues. It randomly goes down to near empty, then will slowly build itself up back towards it's actual place while I drive.
I've noticed it often does it after some "spirited" driving.

Was curious if this was a problem with the stepper motor in the gauge, or something in the fuel system.

Probably the stepper motor, my tach went out and that was the problem.

Its normal. Think of it like the float thing in the gas tank that measures your gas level getting disoriented after some hard acceleration and turns.

If it does it at random and/or sporadically its the stepper motor...

Makes sense. Alas it's not always with the spirited driving. Sometimes I'll just start her up and it'll read under a quarter tank. Instinctively i fill up and poof. It reads correctly.

Let it go for a little while and see what happens. If it is the stepper motor, it will only get worse.
