shifting an Auto
If you like shifting an auto manually, then maybe contact TCI and see if they are planning on making a rachet shifter for the new 5.0's. I plan on buying the shifter for the 05-09's later this year.
It's more like a 4spd. The point of shifting manually like that anyways is to have more control over the car. To me, having it automatically shift from 4-5 once I put it in D just kind of eliminates that point.
+1 ... Whenever I shift my auto manually I always turn o/d off. It basically almost goes into 5th right away if you have the o/d on and put it in D from 3
What the hell transmission do you guys have???lol
Must be different with mine...
First off, there is no 4th...its D. When you shift to D with or without o/d engaged, it's in 4th headed for 5th. The time it takes 5th to engage is all dependant on your shift points, but if you go to D it will go to 5th eventually. Once the rpm and throttle input correspond it will then go to o/d (when on).
Manually shifting an auto will produce more internal heat in the transmission as opposed to leaving it in D, keep that in mind. For that reason, I wouldn't just drive around all night manually shifting.
The TCI is a great bet...love mine!

Why do you have to shift it yourself? Just floor it and it will automatically downshift by itself so you can hear that oh so bad *** sound of your exhaust!
