No additives, only 93+ octane.

I hesitate to bring it to the dealer because it (so far) only happens when the car has been sitting for a few days.

I think air & fuel filters are a good starting point. The fuel filter is under the car on the driver's side, right? (why?)

Motorcraft air & fuel filters run about 30 bucks for both.

change the fuel filter. I changed mine at 26k miles, and it made a world of difference

fuel filter is under the driver's side. If you are going to replace your air filter, I would see about upgradignt o a CAI, or at least an aftermarket filter

My first reaction was fouled plugs, but at only 28k? Is it worth pulling a plug to see? I gave it an "Italian tune-up" on my way in to work this morning and it will sit in my garage for a few days when I will try it again.

Has anyone had the same experience?

Thanks
Italian tune-up, haha please tell me you are from the Merrimack Valley area.

Run that tank down and fill-up at a different station. Sounds to me like you're jumping the gun...

Doesn't the current blend of ethanol crap fuel allow water to seperate when it sits for a few days?

If it only happens when the car sits for a few days, try turning the key to the Run position for a second before you turn it to Start. That should give the fuel pump time to pressurize the lines fully.
