Default Re-chrome tips

I got the m5230 gta, and the tip are in bad shape, I was thinking about taking the tip off and have the re-chrome since they don't sell them anymore, I this wanting to make sure that the sound in the muffler and not the tips, and that I want mess up anything like performance. And I would have a shop do the work

while i'm not very familiar with this specific muffler i somehow doubt that its feasable to just plate a part of a part, not to mention all the prep work which obviously will be required for a good result. and then there is the notion that somebody considered the definition of insanity (no offense) as doing the same thing over and expecting a different result, assuming it was chromed before chances are it will rust again.

how about finding some ss slip-on muffler tips, they either come polished or can be polished if so desired. then you can wirebrush the existing rust off, coat/brush on some rust preventant, slip on the tips. should be good for long.

i got the optional ford ss slip-on tips on my stock gt mufflers, my guess is yours are a different diameter, might be worth checking oreilys, autozone or such.

hope that helps.

They are stainless steel, not chrome.
All you need to do is polish them.
