Default Amtrak Auto Train

I know this is off topic but I can't post there.

Has anyone taken their Mustang on the Amtrak auto train on the east coast. I was thinking about doing it with my wife and two year old daughter one way from Florida. I wouldn't get a room, just sleep in coach. I would still have another day of driving after that and don't know if I'd get good enough sleep in coach versus a hotel to do that. This would allow me to extend my time in Florida for an extra day.

I have taken the Auto Train twice but not with the Mustang. The second time I got a room for me and the family. I would recommend it, I always drove home from Fla. and stop at South of the Border to load up on fireworks.

I did once from here Orlando/Sanford.
One way though.
A friend and I put our bikes on it and came back on two wheels through the Carolinas.

2 bikes, two persons, share a roomette for $600 a piece. It also included all you can drink wine with snacks and a nice dinner.
Will do it again.

Not with the Stang but years ago with a different car, the wife and 2 youngs sons. We slept in coach and had a ball. The meals were good and the kids enjoyed the movie and the observation car.

Took the auto train back in 2001 with a Mercedes CLK coupe, No issues. I did get a sleeper though. The food was really good.

I had no idea you could take your vehicle, thus I never had any interest in taking a train anywhere, knowing this has changed my mind though, especially since there are absolutely no trains that run anywhere near where I live.

i used to take it every 3 months or so. first time i went down they couldnt get my 98 gt on because it was lowered and couldnt clear something, who knows haha. i drove back up to new jersey changed my suspension and went back down. took it about 10 times. SOOOO much easier then driving. i would recommend getting a room even if it is extra money. the seats are small and you are VERY close to the person next to you. the food is actually really good on the train to. id def recommend taking it!
