Slow 3rd gear

Slow 3rd gear
Raced a buddy's Honda SI earlier..
1st and second gear I pulled ahead about a car and a half. But as soon as I hit 3rd, he pulled about half a car on me.
As soon as I hit 4th I got my length back on him though.
I've heard people talking about how slow 3rd is on the v6's.
Just curious if there's a way I can fix that.
Change the shift points via my tune or something?
I know in the SCT it has options to change the shift points, I just don't know what I'd need to change it to, to help improve..

Cool story... Its all in the gearing of the transmission... The only thing a tune will do for you is adjust shift points, thats not going to make 3rd gear any taller or shorter then it already is. Also it doesn't help that you have 20's it takes some of your gearing away with the rolling diameter...

Sort of. The rear end gear ratio will help you power through those gears much faster. 3rd will always be slower than the others, but with the right ratio for you, you can cancel out any negatives.
