I guess if you got Ford to install a custom tune then they would be liable if anything malfunctioned.

Yes this is a widely known problem. And yes it is due to aftermarket tunes, mainly due to them messing with the knock sensors. And no Ford will not cover it, and they can tell if you had an aftermarket tune even if you flash it back to stock.

Did the dealership screw the guy because of the tune or did they not notice the tune? At least it turned out to be something simple....I'll keep my tune and make sure I run the correct gas octane!!!

Not sure I asked a few questions and it doesnt seem to make sense.... A friend of his though had a custom tune and it cause detonation to his motor, but not kid who I know. I honestly wouldnt put a tune on the 5.0 until all the bugs are worked out, and these aftermarkt tuners PERFECT their tunes. When I ran my bama tunes when I had boltons, I never had a problem with any of them

I'd worry more about the burn outs and power shifting going on the road test.

Front what I have read it mainly only happened with the aggressive tune.

I haven't had any issues with my 5.0. Then again, I'm not going to do a tune til these aftermarket tuners figure out this engine 100%. I want to tune my car, but the risk just isn't there enough for me to get a tune. I rarely even go past 3K RPM's for me to get one so I'm keeping it stock.

Was your friend datalogging? I know Bama and some of the other vendors out there have been great in the past but I would never mess with a tune without keep a close eye on whats going on with the engine.

Like Tight said, when I special order...I don't plan on doing on doing engine mods till after the warranty is up...
