Even if its in for the same problem more than twice doesnt it qualify for the lemon law??

And personally I was thinking about the 2013 but they said it wont hit dealers until september 2012 which is almost another year away. and honestly I like the look of the 2010-2012. Its my favorite year so far.
I think you will be happy with the new car. Just don't get yourself into trouble now. I know my V6 is good enough since around here you can get in trouble for ANYTHING and I would rather not be put in jail like my brother and his friend for reckless driving in his c6.

I have around 10 5.0 friends locally, i'd say 7 of them are manuals, of that 7, 1 of them has had serious transmission problems. 3 of these cars are HEAVILY modded. I'm just stating real life facts to help the OP base his decision off of.

I'm sorry to hear that you are one of the unfortunate ones that has had one of the BIG BAD UNKNOWN UNFIXABLE ISSUES /sarcasm

different cars are haivng different issues that are require different fixes. There is a fix, for each issue, whether or not the stealership has techs that can diagnose it differs, some will hook it up to a computer and call it a day, others will rip the car apart until they figure it out.
You do know that you're reporting a 14% failure rate, and calling it not that bad? Lol. For 14% of cars to have a significant issue such as a transmission problem is MASSIVE. It's a sign of clearly shoddy work or a messed up product. Particularly important is that this is on products that are less than 2 years old.

I do think you're underestimating the suck of the issue here, being that both manual 5.0 owners I've met both were having at least moderate transmission pains, this issue does seem like it needs larger scale addressing.

Now whether someone thinks that the 85% chance of an alright transmission is good enough, is only up to the buyer. But overall, this problem is a big one in a market where lives can be at risk.

I've owned 4 new Fords, I have a little bit of a track record working with Ford Dealers. Most problems with transmissions and engines are pretty simple, but IMHO there are a lot of Dealers and Mechanics that don't know or don't care about your car once you purchase it.

There are plenty of Dealers that do. If you are getting BS from one Dealer go to another. I went to 3 dealers in the San Diego area for a rear end howl on my 2000 when it was new, all of them gave me the run around until I went to Heller Ford. When I drove in they were so polite I asked them if I was really at a Ford Dealer! I left the car there overnight (without an appointment) and they had it fixed the next day. They had all the parts, they rebuilt the entire 7.5 diff. I have 190,000 mile on it now, never had another problem. No BS, no delays, no hassles, they even took me home and picked me up when the car was ready the next day. They really renewed my love for Mustangs.

So your saying that since 1 out of the 7 cars locally, of my friends, had a faulty transmission then it is safe to assume the same for the remainder of the thousands of MT-82 cars?

are you high?

everyone keeps wanting to put numbers, and statistics, and facts on these transmission issues, but it is truely UNKNOWN how many of them are truely faulty.

Don't get me wrong, I hope that ford releases a TSB about this issue and I pray that everyone out there with faulty MT-82's get their cars repaird for free under warranty, who knows mine may break down tomorrow, all that I am saying is this issue is being blow way out of proportion from what I have read and heard compared to what I have seen.

If this was such a big deal ford will recall the cars and fix them, they have in the past, so have other car manufacturers. It could very well happen again.

FML this is harder than I though lol. I really want the manual but not sure if its worth taking the chance, but I posted on the SVTP forum as well and there are more people satisfied with the car than unsatisfied. I am going to talk to my local dealers service department and see if they have had any 5.0s with problems, and I have a friend who is the service manager of Bell Ford In New Jersey so I will see what he says (he owns a kona blue RTR with the manual).

So far these are the cars that I have to choose from (that I like) :

2012 Race Red Cali. Special - M6, HID/security package, shaker 1000, comfort package $38,xxx MSRP

2012 White Cali Special - M6, Security package, 3.73's, Comfort package $37,xxx MSRP

2012 Grabber Blue Cali special - A6, HID/Security, Glass roof, comfort package $40,xxx MSRP

2012 Race Red Cali special - A6, Comfort package (same dealer also has the same car in black) $37xxx MSRP

2012 Yellow Blaze Premium GT - M6, comfort package, Brembo brake package, 3.73's $36,xxx MSRP

2012 Grabber blue Premium GT - M6, HID/security package, comfort package, brembo brake package, 3.73's, Reverse sensing (hate this option) $38,xxx MSRP

Its a little on the expensive side, and I kinda want the manual despite the statistics, but with the X plan I should be able to get a fair price. Plus that dealer is undergoing construction in a few months so they are cutting some deals on cars and trucks already.

You have any pics of the glass roof from the inside?

Any with the rear backup camera? I love mine, it also come with the smaller ducktail-ish spoiler, instead of the bigger one that comes on the GT/CS its built right into it, if you dont have navigation (like me) the camera appears on the rear view mirror, when you enter reverse.

The CS's are nice but they make them all the same, you could barely get any options on them. Plus I am a big fan of the grille fog lights.

If you get a manual, get 3.73's for sure.

*edit*

Yellow blaze is a nice *** color, pretty good options on that one, you should check into it. Has that nice Metallic Pearl effect to it, like that one white cadillac color does.

I actually like having the lower fogs instead of in the grille, and this red cali special (the one I test drove, listed first) is absolutely GORGEOUS!!! Only think like I said was the transmission. So I will have to drive it again and see. I love the color grabber blue, as you can tell lol, but I feel that if I'm getting a NEW car I should literally get a NEW car and not the same exact thing just a different motor and trans. If I got the GB cali special with the glass roof and all that, thats different, but a GB Gt again isnt even worth me getting a new car.

Also I just read that they take orders for the 2013's in February 2012 and orders start to arrive in March. Is this true?
