the fit and finish on the Mustang is not the greatest by any stretch of the imagination.
the Germans would laugh at our door panels and bumper covers and how they dont line up.
you should have the dealership fix it under warranty.

No ****, I'm amazed that they can't even get that right....add another fastener to hold the bumpers in place...can't cost soo much?

Hmm, that is weird. It sounds like the metal piece in the trunk portion is seized or whatever, and won't move back to connect with the lower latch on the bumper.
If that is the actual problem (which is the only explanation I can think of without going outside and taking my lock apart lol) then try what nuke said, and get some grease on that thing.

Do you mean that it will not close or that it will not latch.
If it wont close, I would look for some obstruction like maybe
you didnt get those golf clubs in fully or there is something
where the inside of the trunk lid goes when it is closed.
If it indeed wont close, I would grease up the hinges first
as the locking mechanisim only keeps the trunk shut once
it is closed and does not have any bearing on the actual
closing of the trunk.
More details about what the problem actually is.
Maybe the dead body in there has bloated into a shape
that is bigger than when it was first inserted. If so, pop
it with a knife to releive the internal pressures and to get
the bloating to go away.
4 words describing the problem and three in the posts title.
More effort was given to giving props to Ford... ???
Be aware that this guy goes to the stealership to get his oil changed...
