I want to trade my 07 convert mustang to a 08 GT500
Hey guys I got a question for you all I want to finally trade up and get a 08 GT500. I'm just afraid of used cars. I bought my convertible mustang v6 brand new. I baby her everyday and haven't a single problem. Do you think if I buy a used gt500 will it come with problems. I seen a couple of them on ebay for 32000-37000. I want to get grabber orange. Also I prefer the older body style and not the new one. So any tips on buying a used car would be helpful.
I was looking at this badboy

Thanks for the help guys.

nothing wrong w used cars in general. bought mine as a cpo ford, came w a little bit of warranty.
looks like sweet ride, love the color (second to my favorite torch red).
generally spoken, if you can check it out in person and maybe take a test drive before making a final decision would be strongly advised.
has some mls on it, have no personal experience w a shelby but i would assume if serviced and taken care off that should not be an issue.
you never really know how a used car has been treated but you also avoid the big depreciation hit.
history report on ebay looks ok, seller however has no history!! not that that is bad, but it just is not judgeable (is that a word?).
now my personal opinion: in that price range i'd go for a c6 vette, but thats just me.

looks in good shape.
high miles 65195
and approx 608 hp? stock SC, no list of mods. i wonder how they come up with 608 hp.
i would be skeptical about this one. but it might be ok.
used cars are always buyer beware. but the more it is closer to stock, the better. then you have a good idea that the previous owner wasn't racing or abusing it too much.
but you never know.
test drive it, and talk to the owner. if it looks/sounds fishy, keep looking elsewhere.
those earlier year GT500 can be pretty reasonable. theres a local 08 GT500 with 15000 miles for 32k where i live, so they are out there.

There's an '08 GT500 at a local dealership near me and I've been considering trading in for it, too. Ay carumba, just what I need; some one fanning the flames...

That car is not making 600 hp not even at the crank, even with just a tune he may get 3- to 40 more, no cai, 3.73 gears will not add power, so being that this add seems to be pushing the truth I would stay away from it, they could be hiding other stuff too?? As far as the motor, Those miles mean nothing.

That is quite a few miles for the price, IMO. I'm not saying it's not worth it, but no more than you can verify about it I think it's iffy. I bought mine a year ago and it had 1400 miles on it for less than $7k more than that (I think I got a good deal tho). Grabber Orange is hard to come by but you should probably take your time and feel comfortable (if that's possible) with what you are buying. I really think used is the way to go! And I agree with you on the body style! Good Luck!

As a side note, I had a old guy in a newer Challenger RT that wanted to play with me on the toll road today on the way back from work. It was my first run with the new car... Obviously it wasn't even close... but i'll never forget it
Definitely get one!
