Default Tire Pressure Sensor

I'm sure this topic has been brought up before, but I am new to the forum. I recently bought a 2008 with 20" wheels. The pressure sensor warning comes on the read out panel when I start the vehicle and the sensor dummy light is constantly on. Any ideas how to either reset teh sensor or disconnect it?

Thanks!

I don't think you can get rid of it without installing the tire sensors.

OR.....set your tires to the recommended inflation PSI. Actually, +1 or 2 psi should limit the sensor coming on in cold weather.

(EDIT: I mis-read the post. Are you saying that you DON'T have the sensors installed in the 20" wheels???)

To my knowledge, they are not installed. EP, tpm equals tire pressure monitors?? Will they work with the factory sensor?

Just push reset, the message goes away. The warning light won't go away without the sensors. I just swapped my wheels last month and didn't want to blow extra $ for sensors and bands, so I left them off. It was a little annoying at first, but now I am used to it and don't really care.

This was mentioned to me by a fellow mustang owner once. Take a section of pvc pipe, install a valve stem in it, put the tps in it, cap off the ends, pump it up to 35 psi and throw it in the trunk. Way too much trouble for me.

The only way is to fake out the system as discussed above using a pressurized container with 4 (5?) sensors in them, although I don't know anyone that has actually succeeded.

Thanks EP...I'm going to Discount today to replace a tire. I'll ask them about it.
