If you do get the TPMS installed then you will either have to buy the calibration tool (about 50 bucks) or I believe you can take to your local dealership and they should do it for free. Takes about 3 mins to complete.

Not unless you want to shake them everytime you drive
as they go into sleep mode when not rotated...

...which is probably why I haven't heard of anyone being successful with the canister.

How does that work with cars that have them installed in the spare tire?

I wonder what constitutes sleep mode. One of my tires had a nail in it. It had sufficient pressure that if it were mounted on the car, I don't think the TPMS light would have illuminated. I fully expected to see the light, since the donut was mounted on one wheel. The tire with the nail was on the back seat. In the ten miles or so that I drove to get a new tire, the light never came on.

Hmmm Art.
Lets see what consitutes 'sleep mode'...
http://iihs.net/fsm/?dir=68&viewfile...ing System.pdf
Seems the TPMS signals are sent every 60 seconds when the vehicle is
moving faster than 20 miles an hour.
Seems like 'sleep mode' is attained after 20 minutes of inactivity.
The 'training tool' that AM sells 'wakes up' the TPMS sensors
during the SJB training procedure. Makes them send a signal to the SJB
regardless of vehicle speed. Maybe a PVC tube and 'train' or 'activate' them
everytime you go some where to make them report to the SJB from the trunk area?
I am sure there is more info in the above link but thats good enough for me...

Go to discount tire, tell them to price match AM ($140) and they sync them up with a handheld..... And they will be the valve stem kind and not bands.
