When asked what I wanted in my 2012 mustang I stated certain things. One of those things was the HID headlamps. I even wrote it out in big capital letters so the dealership won't miss that detail. Well lo and behold, when I received my Mustang it had everything I wanted EXCEPT the HIDs, even though I specifically requested it. Do you think I have a valid arguement if I go back to the stealership and demand that I get them for $595 or would I have to suck it up and buy them at their going price? I wanted to hear what you guys had to say before making any moves.

I wouldn't have even taken delivery if I were you. Did you "pay" for the option in the total?

I'd go back and tell them that you specifically requested it and see what happens. If you really want them that badly then fight for them. I can't imagine it'd be that hard of a swap for a dealership, would it?

did they have in writing what you wanted? is this a special order stang or one that is from inventory?

Did you drive off the lot with it?

Actually yeah, good point. I just assumed it was a special order, but if it was from inventory and you drove off the lot with it I'd say you're out of luck.

I believe the HIDs are part of a options group that includes an active alarm system and wheel locks. is that on the invoice? HIDs aren't a standalone option.

No, it was a special order. I was waiting on a 2011 but they went out of production so I received a 2012 instead.

Have the dealership install them for the $595. and bring your paperwork to show them you picked that option.

When you special ordered it, it should have listed the options you wanted on your paperwork. If you missed it when you signed for it and put the deposit down you may be s.o.l. Worth a try though, all they can say is no, and you then just order them online or from them.

that's lame, i'm surprised that even for 2012 all of the mustangs didn't come standard with HID/xenon.... the 350Z came standard with them starting in 2006 (and in 2004 half of them had it). But IIRC the 2013's have it standard?

My headlights look almost yellow at night - I plan to upgrade to 8k HID's sometime
