Default 2013 GT500 rear grip???

Well since I've always been baffled why Ford hasn't tried to have the widest possible sticky summer tires fit to the 2005 Mustang Platform for all the power, I really don't see how with 650 HP and 600 TK even with launch control, how the new GT500 is going to be able to launch with only 285 wide rear rubber?

Does anyone think that there will be a new chassis design for 2015 that will allow for wider rear tires such as the Corvettes, Porsches and other high HP cars have? Erik

That's one of my big concerns. Hoping Ford is smart enough to realize the suspension needs to be tweaked when you throw a big amount of power in a car

you can go bigger than 285 with different rims.

Yes, we all know you can go bigger with wider rims, but the fact remains with the huge Mustang wheel wells, and the fact that all the wider wheels that are manufactured for 305/40/18 are taller than desired and only come in R compounds, and 305/35/18's are way puny looking in the wheel wells. There are no non R compound choices for the mustang past 285 in an 18" tire

Widest in 19" tires is 295/35/19 27" tall OK For 650 HP?? Really??

There is 305/30/20 at 27.2" tall. Great! Except because of the lack of sidewall, you'll get better grip out of a 285/40/18.

So again, I'll ask, is there a real solution for the present Mustang chassis to accommodate, with wider wheels, a sticky summer tire to launch 650 HP????? Anyone??? Erik

I'm wondering the same thing....I cant get the 285/18 F1 Goodyears from a GT500 to stick at all, lol, especially when cold.

too much power is better than too little.

07BlackGT Please explain how and what tire could possibly fit the current mustang Chassis with a 335 rear????

I have never found a Ultra High Performance summer tire even near 27.2" high in 315 that is confirmed to fit the Mustang. Please specify, Thank you, Erik
