Default Grinding Noise in Reverse - Help!

I'm not too knowledgable on the mechanics of cars so any help is appreciated.

When I put the car into reverse, there is this horrible noise that ensues. It is somewhere between a rumbling and a grinding, and happens when the brake is applied as well as when I let off. I just bought this car a little over a month ago and being a girl who knows nothing about cars and weasel dealerships, I was brushed off when I mentioned this when I took the car for it's first service check. Is this a known issue? Anyone else have/had this problem or know what I'm talking about? Thanks!

Well, I haven't had this problem with my '06, however, there is a Technical Service Bulletin(TSB) for the rear axle that may apply to your situation. If you look at the top of the forums, you'll see a section called "Recalls and TSB's." Go there, and look at this one:
Power train : axle assembly TSB (12/13/2004)
Read that one and see if it sounds like what you're experiencing. Even if it sounds close, print out that info and take it to your local Ford dealership and press the issue.

Hope this helps,
David

Thats obviously your tranny, the rear end TSB is a general one for many vehicles with the 8.8. You need to bring your car in and let them listen to it and if they still don't want to do anything, bring it to another dealer, call Ford, etc.etc. I know a guy who had his tranny replaced at like 700 mi and have heard of some others too. Don't let them brush you off.
